Benjamin Ayres has been waiting for the right moment to dust off his cowboy hat and Hallmark Channel finally gave him that chance this past week!
The actor joined two dozen of his fellow Hallmark stars to attend the network’s Countdown to Christmas launch events in Nashville, Tenn.
Benjamin wore all denim at an afternoon fan event on the Opry Plaza on Wednesday afternoon (October 15) and he put on a maroon suit for the launch party at Category 10 on Thursday night (October 16). Both events featured his sleek cowboy hat!
While on stage at the Opry Plaza, Benjamin told the story behind the look.

“I’ve been to Nashville once. I was here a couple years ago with Ashley [Williams] and Nikki [DeLoach] when they did the Alzheimer’s Association [event] to raise money. It was this incredible event. I flew down from Toronto. I had never been to Nashville and everybody’s walking around with cowboy hats and boots and I was like, ‘It’s a bit much.’ Day two, I’m like, ‘But they do look awesome in the hats.’ Day three, I buy one. I wear it back to Toronto and I wear it for two days, then I never wear it again. It’s been sitting on my wall,” Benjamin said.
Well, it was the perfect time to bring out the hat and thankfully Benjamin says he now “fits right in.”
Benjamin was at the event to promote his new movie A Christmas Angel Match, which debuts on Sunday night, October 19 at 8/7c. The movie follows two angel matchmakers tasked with helping two humans fall in love, but they end up falling for each other.
Benjamin‘s co-star Meghan Ory actually wrote the script, but she didn’t want anyone to know at first! She used a pen name, but eventually told everyone the truth.
“It feels very personal,” Meghan previously told People. “I have been writing for a long time, and I feel shy about it for some reason. But when people found out over the course of filming that I had written it, they all encouraged me to talk about it.”
