The Gates family is giving thanks.

Melinda French Gates shared a celebratory post on Instagram for Thanksgiving, along with a throwback family photo.

“Feeling grateful as I think back on fun times with loved ones over the years (like this picture of my family and me in the late 1970s.),” she wrote. “Wishing you and yours a happy Thanksgiving filled with great food and even better company.”

Older daughter Jennifer Gates shared her own holiday post on social media, of daughter Leila, 2, looking at a sweet “my family” chart. “From our family to yours, happy Thanksgiving!,” wrote Jennifer, 29.

It’s been another busy year for the family.

In April, dad Bill Gates celebrated the 50th anniversary of Microsoft. In a blog post marking the occasion, the tech billionaire said he was “excited” but admitted that “reaching this milestone feels bittersweet.”

“I always love reflecting back on Microsoft’s history and dreaming about its future,” he wrote. “But it’s also hard to believe that such a significant piece of my life has been around for a half-century.”

That same month, younger daughter Phoebe Gates and her business partner, Sophia Kianni, launched a new shopping app called Phia, which uses artificial intelligence to find the best prices on fashion.

“It’s been exciting to bring a vision to life that caters directly to customer needs, and combines innovation with our passion,” the pair told PEOPLE at the time.

In May, Bill confirmed to the Associated Press that he would be donating 99% of his $107 billion fortune to the Gates Foundation, which he said is set to close in 2045.

“I think 20 years is the right balance between giving as much as we can to make progress on these things and giving people a lot of notice that now this money will be gone,” he said at the time.

In July, Jennifer completed her first year of pediatric residency. “Finished intern year with new skills, unforgettable friendships, and a tiny new member of the family,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.

In October, Bill marked his 70th birthday. Though he did not post anything on Instagram about the milestone, his daughter Jennifer did.

“Celebrating an amazing dad and grandpa today! Happy 70th birthday @thisisbillgates” Jennifer wrote alongside a photo of her father as he played with his granddaughter.

And French Gates, a philanthropist, 61, marked the year with a new memoir about milestones and major changes throughout her life, telling PEOPLE in a cover story earlier this year: “It takes courage forging a different life.”

“When you change paths, you realize, oh, it’s a big opening,” she said.
