The Traitors finalist Faraaz Noor was given a first opportunity to meet billionaire Umar Kamani in person on Thursday evening after the businessman offered to fund a dream trip to Mecca for him and his family.

Noor, a devout Muslim, had previously told BBC viewers of his plans to to take immediate family members on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia’s Masjid al-Haram should he win the show’s £95,750 prize pot.

But after failing to catch Traitors Rachel Duffy and Stephen Libby, who went on to win the show and split the money, the Middlesbrough based internal auditor’s dream of visiting Mecca with his loved ones appeared to be in tatters – until big-hearted Kamani stepped in.

The affluent CEO of online fashion brands PrettyLittleThing and Boohoo has offered to finance Noor and his family out of his own pocket, meaning the TV personality will now realize his dream of visiting the Sacred Mosque – considered to be the most significant mosque in Islam.

Noor, 22, was able to thank the businessman personally while attending the Kamani Living Evening at Mayfair’s Dorchester Hotel on Thursday night.

‘It was important to me that this wasn’t just a social media moment,’ Kamani, 37, told the Daily Mail. ‘The visas are being sorted, the costs are covered, and his whole family will go.

‘Meeting Faraaz in person just confirmed he’s exactly the kind of person you want to help.’

An ecstatic Noor added: ‘Meeting Umar was surreal. He didn’t have to do any of this.

The fact that he’s covering everything for my whole family, I don’t have the words for it. My parents have waited their whole lives for this.’

During his appearance on The Traitors, Noor told his fellow contestants that he would  use the prize money to take his family on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

He said: ‘For me, being Muslim, Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam. Completing that pilgrimage in Saudi, going to Mecca.

‘If I was to win the money, I’d love to be able to treat the family and all of us go as one.’

But suffering disappointment in the final, he was stunned after Kamani reached out on social media with an offer to fund the trip himself.

Speaking at the Radio Times Covers Party in January, Noor said he couldn’t stop crying after receiving the news.

He recalled: ‘I came back and I was talking to my mum and I was like, I just can’t… to Umar, I’m so grateful, Alhamdulillah, I was literally crying my eyes out honestly. I couldn’t believe it.’

Despite falling at the last hurdle of the BBC show, Noor insisted that his dream of taking his family on the pilgrimage was still alive.

He told the BBC: ‘Inshallah, one day I’ll be able to hopefully take them to Hajj or even complete Umrah. I’m looking forward to that.’

Noor also revealed the ‘key’ decision that ended up costing him the £95,750 prize after he changed his mind regarding his suspicions of traitor Duffy.

She and Libbey scooped up £47,875 each on the hit BBC series after they went head-to-head with Noor, Jade Scott, James Baker, and Jack Butler in the final.

When asked by Sky News what key decision led to him missing out on the prize money, he said it was something Duffy had said to him shortly before his loss.

He said: ‘I think for me it was Chest of Chance with James and Rachel. When Rachel said to me after the round table that ‘I just want to stand up there and rub it in all your faces that I’m a Faithful that I’m faithful’, that is exactly how I felt.

‘And me being a Faithful I really resonated that and that sort of tipped me so I was toying between, do I protect myself and vote Rachel or do I know I am right with Stephen and stick with Stephen.

‘It was really 50/50 and my mind was made up when I stood there.’
