Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson got into a physical altercation that reportedly left Tomlinson with a concussion, and resulted in the cancellation of their Netflix docuseries.
The incident took place while the pair were filming on location and was prompted after Malik allegedly made negative comments about Tomlinson’s mom, Johanna Deakin, who died of leukaemia in 2016.
“It spiralled into a row then Zayn made a remark about Louis’ mum Johannah,” sources told the Sun in a report published Friday.
The insider added: “Louis was stunned and in shock. As he went to move, Zayn then attacked him. Zayn punched him straight in the face. Because he was wearing rings it cut Louis’ head.”
“He was pulled away and Louis was taken for medical treatment. He was left with a concussion. This happened outside in front of so many people. It was shocking.”
According to the outlet, neither bandmember has spoken to the other since the incident six months ago.
Reports of a tense altercation involving Tomlinson and Malik first surfaced in December 2025 — just months after the news of their 3-part docuseries was announced — with sources telling Star Magazine a similar rundown of events.
Reps for Malik and Tomlinson did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment, nor did reps for Netflix.
The news comes around the same time that Malik revealed he was rushed to the hospital with a mysterious illness, prompting him to cancel several of his upcoming appearances.
“To my fans – Thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always- been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering,” Malik, 33, wrote via his Instagram Stories on Friday, sharing a photo of himself laying in a hospital bed.
He continued: “Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week, I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding.”
While he did not disclose the reason for his hospitalization, he went on to thank the nurses, doctors, cardiologist and the rest of the hospital staff charged with helping him through his recovery.
“Thank you to the incredible hospital staff of Drs, nurses, cardiologist, management, admin and everyone who has helped along the way and continue to,” he added. “You are all legends! Big big love xx z”
On the @inzayn Instagram account, which is run by the “Pillowtalk” hitmaker’s team, fans were informed of several upcoming scheduled appearances that would now be canceled in the wake of his health scare.
Among the list of dates were meet and greets at the Looney Tunes Record Store on Long Island, New York; Newbury Comics in Boston; Rough Trade in New York City; and the Sound Garden in Baltimore.
However, his April 20 pop-up shop at UMusic in New York City is still scheduled to go on as planned. Though, Malik won’t be in attendance for the planned meet and greet.
Malik is still slated to start his “KONNAKOL” tour on May 12 in England.
