Randall Lendell Dejourney has since been charged with abuse of a corpse in connection with Hollis' death. He is being held in the county jail on a $15,000 cash bond. No further information about Dejourney has been shared at this time.

The TCSO said that evidence gathered in the initial investigation suggested foul play was involved in Hollis' disappearance.

“Multiple search warrants were executed, and investigators gathered extensive physical, witness, and electronic evidence. A person of interest was identified last week; however, Karen had not yet been located,” said the TCSO in its news release.

The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Medical Examiner will determine the manner of death amid an ongoing investigation.

“Additional charges may be filed or upgraded pending the results of the autopsy and determination of the cause and manner of death,” said the TCSO.

PEOPLE has reached out to the Northport Police and TCSO for further comment.
