It's time to say goodbye to some of your favorite procedural TV shows.
From medical dramas to detective series, procedural shows have long been a staple of scripted television. This year, fans have gotten their first look at several new ones, including two fresh CBS police procedurals: CIA, which premiered in February 2026, and Marshals, the Yellowstone spinoff that debuted the following month.
But with an ever-changing line-up, some shows have been unexpectedly cut short, including police procedural Law & Order: Organized Crime and medical-crime drama Watson.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach addressed Watson's cancellation during a CBS 2026-27 schedule event in April 2026 and noted that it was a "tough" decision.
"Morris Chestnut is maybe one of the greatest No. 1's I've ever dealt with," Reisenbach said at the time, per Deadline. "But, you know, it's a high bar on CBS. We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows."
Below, here are all of the procedurals canceled in 2026, so far.

NBC's Brilliant Minds was one of the first series to be canceled by the network in 2026.
Deadline reported in May 2026 that the medical drama — starring Zachary Quinto, Tamberla Perry and Ashleigh LaThrop — was not returning for a third season after being NBC's lowest rated drama on their linear TV schedule, "with the steepest double-digit year-to-year declines."
Perry — who portrayed Dr. Carol Pierce — reflected on the "sad news" in an Instagram video, thanking the "people who rocked with us."
"It takes a village to get these shows to keep having lives, and y'all gave us two lives, so thank you," the actress continued. "I was very cognizant of squeezing every inch of life out of that show that I could, and I did, so that's the sweet part of it."

The Christopher Meloni-led spinoff series Law & Order: Organized Crime was canceled after five seasons.
In the wake of the cancellation news, Meloni reflected on his time playing detective Elliot Stabler in an April 2026 Instagram video and thanked fans for not only helping to give his character "life and longevity," but also "for sticking with him and welcoming him back."
"Good ride. It was a good ride, I had a great time playing him," the actor continued. "It was a great ride, but thank you. … You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of. Nearly 17 odd years."

Watson

In March 2026, Deadline reported that CBS' Watson was canceled following its second season.
The medical mystery starred Chestnut, who addressed the cancellation in a March 2026 Instagram video.
"Yes, it’s disappointing, but that’s the way the show biz beast is," Chestnut said. "Yes, the nature of the beast, and you have to take the good with the bad."
In the caption, the lead actor expressed his gratitude and said it "wouldn’t have been the same without the amazing cast and crew."
As for why it was canceled, Reisenbach said during the CBS 2026-27 schedule event that she loves Watson, but CBS had to make "tough decisions" to make room for a fresh slate of programming, per Deadline.

The CW's Good Cop/Bad Cop is ending its run after one season.
Luke Cook, who starred alongside Leighton Meester, announced the comedic police procedural's cancellation in a February 2026 TikTok video, saying, "Sad to let you know this, but we will not be doing a season 2 of Good Cop/Bad Cop."
The actor said he "loved making that show" and becoming friends with the cast and crew.
"They’re all my great friends, so I’m sad we won’t get to do it again," Cook continued. "But thank you to everyone who watched the show, thank you."
The reasoning for its cancellation has not been confirmed, though Cook acknowledged in his message that it's a "tough business."
"Hollywood has the ability to make your dreams come true and also break your heart," he said. "Onwards and upwards. Thanks for the support."

NBC's The Hunting Party — starring Melissa Roxburgh, Nick Wechsler and more — was canceled in June 2026 following its second season.
The cancellation comes after the series' linear ratings declined in season 2, though later received a boost after it debuted on Netflix in February 2026, per The Hollywood Reporter.
