Krispy Kreme is serving up birthday treats for its 89th anniversary!
The company announced that customers can purchase a dozen glazed doughnut for just 89 cents on the company’s 89th birthday on Friday, July 17.
However, there are certain caveats. In order to cash in on the 89-cent deal, customers will have to buy a dozen glazed doughnuts at regular price and there are certain limits depending on where a person purchases their doughnut.
The company said there is a limit of two dozen donuts per each customer in-shop and drive-thru. For those who are doing online pickup or delivery, they will be limited to one dozen.
“Every Krispy Kreme birthday is really a celebration of our fans,” the company, which was founded in 1937 by Vernon Rudolph, said in a statement.
“Offering Original Glazed dozens for just 89 cents is our way of saying thank you to the guests who make Krispy Kreme part of their celebrations, traditions and everyday sweet moments,” the company added.
As for why the company is choosing to celebrate their birthday with glazed doughnuts, they said it all goes back to Rudoph’s first shop in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They noted that he would cut a hole in an exterior wall of his shop and serve fresh Original Glazed doughnuts right from the sidewalk.
Krispy Kreme said that even though Rudolph’s original idea has grown nearly nine decades later into a “beloved global brand with shops in more than 40 countries,” his original aspiration to bring fresh doughnuts to others is still at the core of the company.
“While Krispy Kreme has continued to innovate and bring new experiences to fans around the world, it has never lost sight of what made it famous: the joy of sharing a warm, melt-in-your-mouth Original Glazed doughnut – especially when the iconic Hot Light is on,” they said.

The company’s announcement comes one week after it announced in a press release that it would be introducing a limited-edition collection inspired by three iconic Girl Scout Cookie flavors.
The new flavored doughnuts reimagine the popular Thin Mints, Lemon-Ups and Caramel DeLites (or Samoas) cookies and will be available for a limited time at participating Krispy Kreme locations nationwide.
“Reimagining them as doughnuts is a fun way to bring those familiar favorites to fans in a completely new and truly irresistible way,” the company said on July 7.
