Yvie Oddly is clarifying their claim about quitting drag.

The 31-year-old RuPaul’s Drag Race winner posted a flyer to their Instagram account promoting an upcoming yard sale.

On one slide of the carousel, the flyer encourages people attending to “celebrate Yvie Oddly quitting drag,” which Yvie is now clarifying in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. In the interview, Yvie cleared up whether or not they plan to quit drag and commented on other Drag Race alums that have made the same claim.

When asked if they plan to quit drag, Yvie said, “Not any more than I already have, no!”

Using other examples of Drag Race alums that have claimed they’ve stepped away from doing drag, Yvie said, “You might not be gigging as much, you might keep a secret pair of heels in the closet. But, look at all the queens who’ve quit. Phi Phi/Jaremi, still does drag [through cosplay]. Tyra Sanchez quit, came back, and quit again. Y’all can’t get a queen to quit drag if you wanted to. Sherry Pie still has a career. The only way a queen quits drag is through death.”

According to Yvie, joking about quitting drag was just their way of playing into what fans were already going to be saying about the yard sale event.

They said, “The purpose of this event is to have a yard sale. I’ve had one before, it’s never been a big deal, but where I’m at right now, when I posted that I’m having a yard sale, people jumped to crazy conclusions about my health and quitting drag.”

Yvie said the real reason for having the yard sale is simply due to amassing too many things and needing to downsize. They told the publication, “I need to give it back to the community that gave me everything when I never thought I’d have this much. Yes, I’m quitting drag to start over again… I want to see what drag I can do if I don’t own any shoes.”
