Marisa and Jamie held an Old Hollywood-inspired wedding ceremony on Saturday afternoon (September 13) at Firle Place, a manor house that dates back to the 15th century!

“We wanted to lean into our love of classic, nostalgic romance with our ceremony,” Marisa told the outlet. “Firle Place is such a beautiful home with so much character, and I fell in love with the drama of those big blue doors. But it was equally as important to let our friends really get loose at dinner, so the Soho House in Brighton was perfect.”

Marisa wore an Emilia Wickstead dress, “which took over 250 hours to make, was constructed from 20 metres of silk duchess satin, with a drop waist and a draped off-the-shoulder micro sleeve moulded to the bride’s arms atop a structured corset.”

“If I had to do this all over again, a million times, I would choose working with Emilia every single one,” the bride shared. “Her attention to detail, her love of women’s bodies, her desire for perfection is unparalleled.”

The groom wore a Dunhill tuxedo for the big day.

“The brand represents the absolute best of British tailoring,” Jamie dished on his choice. “It gave me the classic silhouette and impeccable craftsmanship any man would want for their wedding tux. I’ve never felt so cool. [In addition to that] they also gave us one-on-one attention and understood that Aimee [Croysdill, stylist] and I wanted to take my look to a new level of modern structural elegance. With our running theme of ‘female-led design,’ we were fortunate enough to know a female cutter at Dunhill, who we asked to be placed with and Dunhill very kindly agreed. My only note coming in was I wanted a very nice double-breasted tuxedo, and the result was beyond my wildest expectations.”

The bridesmaids also wore custom Emilia Wickstead dresses, as well as the mother of the bride. Their looks were completed with Lucy Delius jewelry, bespoke DeMellier handbags and Jimmy Fairly sunglasses.

“I walked down the aisle to the theme of Cinema Paradiso, which was the film that Jamie and I watched at his apartment in Ladbroke Grove before we both told each other ‘I love you’,” Marisa shared.

She also revealed they wrote their own vows, but actually had their legal ceremony the week before, with just their parents attending and going to lunch afterward at one of their fave local spots.

“This meant that our ceremony at Firle could be totally unique to us, a real celebration of who we are as people and what we mean to one another,” the actress said. “It was the greatest moment of our lives. We cried, of course. Completely overwhelmed. There was just so much love in that room. It was just the most personal, heartfelt ceremony.”

Congratulations to Marisa Abela and Jamie Bogyo on the nuptials!!
