Charlie, a conservative podcast host, was shot and killed in September 2025 at the age of 31.
Alexa, 37, went on to call the pregnancy loss “the worst thing that ever happened in [her] life.”
“Before I was pregnant with Indy, I was very quiet [and] I would tiptoe around Carlos,” Alexa recalled. “I felt, like, this is me being a good wife, honoring him [and thinking], ‘Whatever he says goes.’ I ended up finding out [that] this tiptoeing was total fear of him, and there was no reason to fear him.”
The Spy Kids actress said that “something changed within” her after suffering the stillbirth.
“I was ignited on the inside, [where] this fear just got stomped out,” Alexa explained. “I have a boldness now, which in the first little bit, it was actually kind of hard because I was challenging [Carlos] for the first time in our marriage — or since the beginning of our relationship ‘cause I used to have that fire early on, and then I kind of became complacent.”
Since she started speaking up for herself again, Alexa said that it has given their marriage a new start.
“Our relationship is, like, the 2.0 version [and] almost, like, we started over and we started dating again,” Alexa shared. “There’s just a fire that I think wasn’t fanned enough on my part for a long time that [has] now been ignited. It just feels so different now, at least for me.”
