For Good' Will 'Devastate,' Says Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum, the wonderful Wizard himself, is teasing big things to come in the upcoming Wicked: For Good.

“Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, Elphaba and Glinda, oh my gosh, will further thrill you and chill you and devastate you, yes,” Goldblum, 72, said alongside wife Emilie Livingston on the red carpet for the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday.

“I don’t want to be a tattletale or a spoiler,” he told ABC’s On the Red Carpet when asked to tease details about the upcoming installment, which will be released on Nov. 21, 2025. “Well, I do something in it. I may be tuneful.”

Goldblum plays the self-styled Wonderful Wizard of Oz in director Jon M. Chu’s two-part screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. He promised an emotional conclusion to the origin story for Grande’s Glinda the Good Witch and Erivo’s Wicked Witch of the West — the second part of which is sure to involve Dorothy blustering in from Kansas.

The Wizard is indeed “involved” in For Good, confirmed Goldblum. And, of course, “there might be some emotional complications and twists.”

At this year’s Oscars, where Wicked: Part One is nominated in 10 categories including Best Picture, Goldblum — nominated for short film Little Surprises in 1996 — said he was “looking forward to just being here and enjoying ourselves and celebrating the community and all the people in the cast.”

Calling acting nominees Grande and Erivo “unbelievably fantastic and incomparable,” he added, “Jon M. Chu made a fantastic movie. And I just love that people seem to love the movie… I love it myself, and since I saw the stage show, I’ve been in tears and my heart broke wide open with love.”

Wicked: Part One, costarring Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater and Michelle Yeoh, was a box office smash upon its November 2024 release, becoming the highest-grossing musical film adaptation ever and the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2024. Wicked: For Good is slated for a Nov. 21 release.

“If Part 1 is about choices, Part 2 is about consequences,” Chu told Entertainment Weekly in a November 2024 interview teasing the next installment. Characters like Elphaba and Glinda, he added, will be “asking, ‘Is this the right decision that you made?'”
