Wild Cards is a fan-favorite, but its future is still unknown!
The crime-solving procedural airs on Wednesdays on The CW, and is currently in its second season.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Wild Cards follows the unlikely duo of a by-the-book, sardonic cop and a spirited, clever con woman. Cole Ellis (Giacomo Gianniotti) is a demoted detective who has begrudgingly spent the last year on the maritime unit, while Max Mitchell (Vanessa Morgan) has been living a transient life, elaborately scamming everyone she meets.”
“But while arrested and being held at the station, Max ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime. The two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves – Ellis needs to get back to his detective post and Max needs to stay out of jail. The catch? They have to work together, each using their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, that means hard-boiled shoe leather police work; for Max, it means accents, disguises, schemes and generally befriending everyone in sight, while driving Ellis absolutely nuts. The two will have to learn what it means to trust another person and maybe actually become partners.”
Naturally, fans are wondering if the show will come back for a third season.

Wild Cards has not yet been renewed for a third season, despite some rumors online that an order has already been made.
TVLine reported in April 2025 that “there has been no official Season 3 order, yet.” The Canadian TV show needs a renewal from CBC before The CW makes any decisions about airing it in the U.S.
That said, Giacomo Gianniotti provided a hopeful update in his post about the season finale of the show in April.
“Our incredible crew rocked this under incredible circumstances and deadlines and I can’t wait to get started with them again soon…thanks to all the fans for watching Season 2 . We hope to have more Wild Cards on the way to you very soon. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” he teased. Hopefully, we’ll hear about an official order soon!
