Jack Kennedy Schlossberg is not happy with Ryan Murphy‘s new show about his late uncle and aunt, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Ryan‘s new series American Love Story will follow JFK Jr., played by Paul Kelly, and Carolyn‘s, played by Sarah Pidgeon, whirlwind romance. The couple passed away in a plane crash in 1999 when she was 33 and he was 38. They were the subject of lots of media scrutiny when their romance began, through their deaths.
In a new Instagram Story posted on Thursday (June 19), the 32-year-old son of JFK Jr.’s sister Caroline Kennedy criticized the upcoming series and called out Ryan for not consulting with the family.

Kennedy Jr., a great man,” Jack began. “For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with, the new shows being made about him, the answer is no. And there’s really not much we can do.”
He continued, “The right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image and likeness, doesn’t survive death in the state of New York. For that matter, he’s considered a public figure, so there’s not much we can do.”
Jack then went on to share his hopes for the show.
“I hope those making these shows about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it. And that they donate some of the profits [that] they’re making,” Jack said.
“For the record, I think admiration for my Uncle John is great,” he added. “What I don’t think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way.”
While Ryan hasn’t publicly addressed Jack‘s comments, he did fire back at fan criticism over the costumes.
American Love Story will premiere in February 2026. You can see photos of Sarah and Paul on set here.
