One mom is going viral for showing off her daughters’ first year as sisters.

Yvette D., a 28-year-old mom of two, tells PEOPLE she saw different videos online of people capturing monthly milestones of their children’s growth on social media, inspiring her to do the same with her girls, Georgia and Marley.

Every month, the Ohio-based mom and her husband, David D., 29, would record a small interaction with their girls, showcasing their developing bond and growth over the year. Looking back at the video, she says it’s “really special” watching her daughters, who are 14 months apart, grow up together.

“With their age gap being 14 months apart, they’ve grown up almost side by side. Their bond has evolved from parallel play into a real friendship,” Yvette tells PEOPLE. “They’ve developed a unique closeness which has been sometimes challenging, often funny and increasingly supportive as they grow.”

In the caption for the now-viral clip on Instagram, which is set to Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” the proud mom reflected on her daughters’ growth and bond with each other.

“Their first year of sisterhood 🥹 14 month age gap & they just love each other,” she wrote in the caption.

The sisters’ bond formed before they even met each other. During her pregnancy, Yvette says her toddler daughter Georgia was already excited about becoming an older sibling.

“Every day I would point to my belly and tell her ‘baby sister is in there!’ ” she recalls. “She always loved to poke and lay her head on my stomach to feel her move.”

To prepare for the role, the proud parents gifted the then-6-month-old her very own “baby.” The babydoll, which was Yvette’s from her childhood, became like her new baby sister, easing her perfectly into the role. A few days after Marley was born, Georgia met her baby sister and “instantly brightened.”

“She stumbled to us and her face instantly brightened,” Yvette explains. “She gently patted her head, touched her tiny fingers and squeaked with excitement. I’ll definitely remember that moment forever.”

According to Yvette, life since welcoming her new addition to the family has “been great.” While she says the adjustment in the beginning was “definitely tough,” the family of four has fallen into a “good routine.”

“They love to chase each other. Georgia has been a great big sister showing Marley how to do certain things and showers her with hugs,” she says. “It’s been a blessing being able to stay home and watch every season of their life unfold so far.”
