The Bobby Brown Story star says the soon-to-be mom of two was “very hands on with the design and event planning” for the baby shower. The couple had no trouble landing on the theme, bows and butterflies, and the color scheme to celebrate their little ones. The couple’s vision for their special day was brought to life with the help of The Valentine Venue and Confetti Balloons.
McClain says his favorite part of the celebration was taking pictures in a photo booth, which was a surprise from his cousin. The Harder They Fall actor says the photo booth, which was provided by Everlasting Memories, allowed the expectant parents and their families to “capture so many memories.”
While planning the baby shower, the couple knew that there was one thing in particular they had to incorporate into the festivities: nursery karaoke.
“Our families are musical, so we knew we had to play Nursery Karaoke,” McClain shares with PEOPLE. “Everyone truly loved the game and cried from genuine laughter.”
When it comes to McClain, laughter is always going to be in the mix. The actor even went as far as to announce he was expecting twin girls on April Fool’s Day, saying he wanted to “keep people on their toes.”
“I’m such a jokester [and a] troller, and [I] love to keep people on their toes, so if you know me then posting the big news on April Fools day was on brand for me,” he tells PEOPLE.

With twins running in both his mother’s and father’s side of the family, it was no surprise to him that they are expecting a pair of their own. As the November due date approaches for his twin girls, whom the couple has already named Emily and Amaya, McClain says that preparing for fatherhood has been “overwhelming in the best way.”
“The closer we get, the more I appreciate the incredible strength of women. [The ability] to carry children deserves greater recognition and admiration,” he tells PEOPLE. “Fatherhood feels like I’m preparing for a lifetime role. The amount of research and love being poured into me is overwhelming in the best way, reminding me that growth isn’t just for them, it’s for me too.”
The soon-to-be dad is excited for his little one’s arrival, sharing one of the things he’s most excited to do with them. “I am most excited to be the first person to take my girls on a shopping spree,” he says.
