Here comes the bride! Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein has tied the knot in the royal wedding of the summer.
On Saturday, Aug. 30, Princess Marie Caroline, 28, married Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer in a church wedding at the Cathedral of Vaduz in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. The Princely House of Liechtenstein announced the couple’s engagement in October 2024 and said then that the wedding was planned for late summer.
Princess Marie Caroline was a timeless royal bride in a white gown made fresh with sheer lace details and short sleeves, and completed the look with heirloom royal jewelry and a sweeping veil.

According to The Court Jeweller, Marie Caroline married in the Habsburg Fringe Tiara, which dates back to 1890.
In a sentimental connection, it was the same sparkler that her grandmother, the late Princess Marie, wore for her royal wedding in 1967, and has also been worn by Princess Marie Caroline’s late great-grandmother, Princess Gina, her mother, Princess Sophie, and other brides in the royal family of Liechtenstein.

The fan blog reported that Princess Marie Caroline added more shimmer with statement diamond drop earrings that Princess Marie and Princess Sophie have also sported previously, bringing another heirloom into her parure of bridal jewels.
Marie Caroline is the second child and only daughter of Prince Alois, the longtime regent of Liechtenstein, and his wife, Princess Sophie. She is the first of her three brothers to get married and her wedding mass was celebrated by His Excellency Bishop Mag. Dr Benno Elbs, Father Martin Rauch SJ and Father Dr Jozef Tarnowka SDS.

The princess bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, the future reigning prince of Liechtenstein, and the nuptial mass music was performed by the St Florin Vaduz Church Choir and Schola St Florin.
The Princely House said the celebration was attended by the couple’s friends and family, as well as the President and Vice-President of the Landtag (or Parliament), government members and the mayor of Vaduz.

It was a true storybook scene when the newlywed Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo, 34, shared a kiss on the steps of the cathedral, sealing their marriage with a kiss.
Following the mass, a reception was held at Vaduz Castle, the private home of the royal family of Liechtenstein.

Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo are based in London, where she works in fashion and he works in investment management. Leopoldo was born in Venezuela and is a graduate of the University of St Andrews, which is where Prince William and Kate Middleton met and fell in love as college students.
Liechtenstein is a small German-speaking principality (population: 40,000) landlocked by Switzerland and Austria, and governed by a constitutional hereditary monarchy in which the reigning prince and democratically elected Parliament share power. Princess Marie Caroline’s grandfather, Prince Hans-Adam II is the sovereign, but her father, Prince Alois, 57, has acted as head of state since 2004.
