• Sam Hunt is expecting his third baby with his wife, Hannah Lee Fowler
• The couple is planning to bring their newborn on tour this summer after Fowler gives birth
• They are also parents to daughter Lucy, 2 and son Lowry, 18 months

Sam Hunt will have a full house when he goes on tour this summer.

The singer, 40, spoke with PEOPLE at the iHeart Country Festival on Saturday, May 3 in Austin, Tx., and shared that he’s only a few weeks away from becoming a dad of three.

“I’m hoping that Hannah feels up to bringing all three out this summer because we’re going to have another one in about three weeks,” he says of his wife, with whom he shares daughter Lucy Louise, 2, and son Lowry Lee, 18 months.

“So we’ll have about six weeks before we get going and she says she needs six weeks before she’ll be ready to go so maybe too soon, but we’ll see,” Hunt says.

Asked if having his kids with him on tour changes his pre-show routines, Hunt says it allows him to do things he wouldn’t normally do while on tour.

“I go to bed earlier, I get up earlier, it gives me a lot more to do during the day,” he explains. “I go out and do things that I wouldn’t necessarily — museums and parks and that sort of thing. I’ve gotten to really experience more of some of these places that I’ve been over the years several times, but just not really gotten to get out and experience.”

“So I could find a good little breakfast spot or going to the local museums and things like that. It’s been a treat,” the proud dad adds.

As for what he plans on doing for the rest of the year, Hunt just wants to be at home and spend time with his growing family.

“I want to be present with the kids and be the best version of myself. So I try to keep an eye on how much I’m getting into other things so that I make sure i”m not expended when I”m home with those kids,” he says. “I’m really conscious of that this year.”

Back in November, Hunt announced he’s expecting his third baby with wife Hannah Lee Fowler, sharing the news on Audacy’s Katie & Company podcast. “It’s about to get real,” he said, revealing Fowler is pregnant and expecting their third baby in May. “I’m elated, can’t wait!”

Hunt shared that the couple’s oldest, daughter Lucy Louise, doesn’t totally understand that she’s getting a baby sibling, but is excited nonetheless.

“We talk about. I say, Mama has a baby on the way and we’ll point to her belly and she says, ‘No, I have a baby on the way,’ ” Hunt said, laughing.

As he gets ready to release new music, Hunt shared that he’s planning on slowing down on touring since he wants to spend more time with his family.

“I’m hopefully — in the next couple years — going to take a break from touring,” he said. “The crowds have been so great and I want to get out there and tour while my kids are really young and they’re able to come with me…and while people are interested in coming to see us because I don’t want to take that for granted.”
