The Frappuccino is getting a new look.
Starbucks announced on Monday, July 7, that it’s rolling out a new Strato (Italian for “layer”) Frappucino drink in three flavors, all featuring the brand’s cold foam rather than the whipped cream the beverage is typically topped with.
The Brown Sugar Strato — which adds brown-sugar cold foam and a dash of cinnamon to a blend of Frappuccino roast coffee, milk and ice — will appeal to fans of the popular Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso looking for something creamier.
The Strawberry Matcha Strato, featuring one of summer’s most popular combinations, includes unsweetened matcha, classic syrup, milk, ice and strawberry cream cold foam.

The Salted Cream Mocha Strato tops off a blend of mocha sauce, coffee, milk and ice with salted caramel cream cold foam and a caramel drizzle zigzag.
PEOPLE got an early taste of all three drinks and they didn’t disappoint, packing well-balanced flavors with the signature richness the Frappuccino is known for. The cold foam — which we also loved in spring’s Iced Cherry Chai — adds a modern twist with its light, airy texture.
The chain notes that customizations are welcome and straws are optional with the new drinks, since they skip the older version’s towering swirl of whipped cream.
The Frappuccino, first introduced in the spring of 1995, turns 30 this year.
The three Strato drinks, available for a limited time starting Tuesday, July 8, follow another recent addition to Starbucks’ menu.
Starbucks
The Firework Frappuccino, a limited-time offering for the first week of July, added a “festive twist” to the Summer-Berry Refresher with raspberry, blueberry and blackberry flavors.
It also featured coconut milk, popping raspberry pearls, a swirl of strawberry purée and a layer of vanilla sweet cream cold foam.
The coffee chain will be bringing back raspberry syrup for a limited time this month, according to a June 10 release detailing news from the Starbucks Leadership Experience 2025.
The chain launched its summer menu in May, including the Summer-Berry Refresher, Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and Summer Skies Drink, which all returned after first debuting in May 2024.

The trio all feature raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry flavors with boba and raspberry-flavored pearls. The second is mixed with lemonade, while the third is blended with coconut milk.
Another seasonal drink Starbucks introduced for summer is the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, which features blonde espresso with horchata syrup — a mix of cinnamon, vanilla and rice flavors.
And the food menu got a sweet new addition: the Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop, which includes strawberry cream cake mixed with buttercream and dipped in chocolate icing.
