NEED TO KNOW

- So, she turned to Reddit for advice
Going on a trip can test any relationship, no matter how strong.
A 27-year-old woman explained on Reddit that she recently spent the weekend at a lake house with her 29-year-old boyfriend and his friends.
“We spent all Saturday boating and drinking and, around 4pm, I needed a nap. I didn’t set an alarm so I slept until around 7pm,” she wrote.
However, when she woke up, she realized the group had already made dinner — and ate it all.

“Since it was our last night at the house, we didn’t have any other groceries besides some small, one-serving chip bags,” she explained.
“When I came downstairs and realized there was no food left, I was genuinely in shock. I was upset with everyone, but mostly with my boyfriend,” she continued. “If he had been napping, I know I would have put some food aside for him and been conscientious of his needs.”
However, her boyfriend “sees things differently.” In his mind, since he wasn’t the one cooking, “it wasn’t his responsibility to make sure I had food.”
He claimed that since there were more than 15 in the house, that “the vibe was ‘every man for himself.’ ”
“I know he had been drinking, as had everyone else, but I’m honestly livid and can’t imagine not looking out for my partner in such a simple way,” she wrote. “His friends’ reactions varied from sheepish to, ‘you snooze you lose.’ ”
So, the woman asked Reddit if she was overreacting or if she was valid in feeling disrespected by her boyfriend.
“I can imagine he’d be the first to jump on the lifeboat as the ship is about to sink,” one person joked.
“I feel like it’s moments like these that give you a glimpse into the future with someone. Don’t ignore that. I’m not saying it’s breakup worthy, for sure have a conversation with him…but just keep it noted in the back of your mind,” another person commented.
