Content creators Zach Hsieh and Michelle Chin are on the road to “forever!”

The couple announced their engagement on social media on Easter Sunday, April 20, alongside several photos of the emotional seaside proposal, and even shared a look at the huge new rock on Chin’s ring finger.

Chin kicked off her Instagram post with a photo of her new engagement ring on her finger. A second photo in her carousel showed a close-up of the oval-shaped ring, which was cushioned on either side by diamonds, in a red box with the designer name: James Allen.

She also shared romantic photos of the pair kissing on the beach, where the proposal took place, as a wave crashed behind them. Additional shots showed her reaction to the surprise engagement, as she could be seen shedding some tears as he asked her to be his wife.

“The happiest day of my life, wrapped in the most beautiful surprise. He planned every moment with so much love 🩷 12.12.2024 🩷,” she captioned the photo.

Hsieh shared similar photos in his own Instagram post announcing the engagement. However, he included some wider shots of the proposal, showing that they got engaged under a Torii gate, which is a traditional Japanese gate found at the entrance of Shinto shrines, placed at the beach.

In the snaps, Chin wasn’t the only one crying, as she could also be seen wiping away tears from her now-fiancé’s eyes. In one photo, he could be seen celebrating with his arms above his head as he made his way to the gate on the beach, and he also shared a sentimental photo of the pair when they started dating to show just how far they have come.

“We’re engaged 💍,” Hsieh wrote. “You spend your whole life searching for that one thing, the thing that matters above all else. For a long time, I thought I’d found it in YouTube, but Michelle changed that.”

“Over the past 6 years, she’s taught me that it’s okay to change, to evolve, and to push yourself beyond your comfort zone,” he explained. “And now, for the first time, I’m not afraid to open up and to risk everything, because I know I’ve found the one thing that truly matters … her. Michelle, I’m ready for forever with you.”

He also shared a video of the proposal, in which he could be seen telling Chin, “I can’t even begin to describe how much I love you … I can’t imagine my life without you … Michelle, will you marry me?”

She could be seen nodding and saying, “yes,” and noting that the “ring was so pretty” as he put it on her finger. The pair then could be seen sharing a kiss and a few hugs as they excitedly celebrated together. “Do you like [the ring],” Hsieh asked her to which she replied, “Yes,” and gave him another kiss.

Hsieh shared the details of the proposal in a YouTube video on his channel, revealing that the whole event took place in Japan, and that he had been planning it for a whole year. He noted that the engagement kicked off with a “scavenger hunt around the world,” and Chin had to find “clues” in different countries.

He noted that they eventually made it to Japan, where they did a photoshoot with photographers at “five different locations” to “find the perfect spot” for the proposal. He said these locations included a small Japanese town and a bamboo forest and a small beach, which he said he considered popping the question at. However, his photographers advised him to wait.

“I was so nervous ‘cause we didn’t know which spot was going to be the perfect one, and I didn’t want Michelle to say no. So I wanted to make sure she would say yes, and I wanted a very pretty spot otherwise Michelle wouldn’t be too happy,” he recalled.

Chin, for her part, said that she thought the “beach” where he proposed was “perfect,” as he had asked her to be his girlfriend on the beach as well. “It was really romantic,” she added.
