Ryan Reynolds surprised fans with a wild appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.
The actor, 49, appeared in Hall H on Saturday, July 25, as part of Marvel’s presentation for Avengers: Doomsday, which will feature X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.
Reynolds was joined onstage by other Doomsday stars, including Robert Downey Jr. and Paul Rudd. The actor, whose appearance in the new movie hasn’t been confirmed, jokingly asked the cast when Doomsday would start shooting, to which Downey Jr. replied, “It’s in the can, bro.”

“Look around you,” he said, referencing the auditorium full of people eager to hear updates. “Did you bump your head?”
Reynolds jokingly appeared disappointed. “I see. So there’s no additional photography, no overages, maybe last-minute additions…?”
Reynolds last appeared as Deadpool in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide.
Marvel fans have been eager for any updates about the future of Wade Wilson.

On April 7, the Deadpool star announced during Today‘s Sunday Sitdown Live that he had already started drafting the next Merc with a Mouth movie. Then, at Fanatics Fest NYC, Reynolds offered his clearest indication yet that Deadpool’s story is far from over.
“There’s a few really deep cuts that are missing from the movies, I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics,” he said in a video shared on X on Sunday, July 19.
He added, “There’s certainly some stuff that I love that Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan is a friend and an incredible comic book writer. There’s stuff coming, there eventually will be another Deadpool film.”
While Reynolds has previously suggested he isn’t rushing into a traditional Deadpool 4, he has repeatedly hinted that he’s developing a different kind of Marvel project involving Wade Wilson and characters from the X-Men universe.
