Dr Chris Brown has responded to a fan after it was revealed the hunky TV host had been used in a cruel catfishing scam.
The 47-year-old revealed that a swindler is using Chris’ likeness on WhatsApp to lure female victims.
Chris later shared a screenshot to his stories saying that followers are contacting him ‘five times a day’ about the imposter.
He included the messages he exchanged with a fan who wanted to know whether the TV vet was ‘talking’ to their sister on WhatsApp.
‘Sorry, that’s not me,’ Chris, who is currently dating television publicist Lorraine Monforte, replied.
He added, ‘And [the person] is likely to be a scammer. This sadly happens a lot.’

‘Thank you for answering,’ the person replied, and continued, ‘I have tried to tell her it is a scammer, she won’t listen. She met him on WhatsApp.’
Chris included the caption, ‘I get about five of these a day, and WhatsApp seems to be popular right now. The “other” me is a busy guy.’
This is not the first time Chris’ name and image have been used in a scam.
In June 2025, a New Zealand grandmother was targeted by a love scam using AI-generated videos and images of Dr Chris Brown.
Daana Tomlin, 73, was conned out of $786 when she was tricked into believing she had struck up a five-year-long online romance with the Bondi Vet star.
The fraudsters used emotionally manipulative messages to convince the pensioner she was in a romantic relationship with the star, reported The Daily Telegraph.
They first made contact with a ‘cheeky message’ on Facebook while posing as Chris, before moving Daana to Telegram and WhatsApp to continue the manipulation.
Daana, a semi-retired naturopath from Dunedin, said she was conned into sending the scammers almost $800 through gift cards, Apple Cards and PayPal.

This came just weeks after a middle-aged British woman was victimised in a near-identical scam.
Lisa Nock, 44, was conned out of $22,000 after she was tricked into believing she had struck up a two-year-long online romance with the My Reno Rules host.
The fraudsters used emotionally manipulative messages to convince the victim she was in a romantic relationship with the star, Lisa told Melbourne radio hosts Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola, and Nick Cody in July last year.
They first made contact with an ‘innocent message’ on Instagram while posing as Chris, before moving Lisa to WhatsApp to continue the manipulation.
Lisa said she was ultimately conned out of her life savings under false pretences, which included a $12,000 fake hospital bill and a whopping $2,000 fee for an in-person meet and greet.
The hoaxers used sophisticated AI-generated videos of Chris to speak to Lisa and convince her to hand over her cash.
