Wade shares his daughter Kaavia, 7, with Union, 53. He is also a father to two children — Zaya, 19, and Zaire, 24 — with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, and son, Xavier, 11, with Aja Metoyer. Wade is also the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 22.
The former point guard has a tight-knit relationship with all of his children. Back in July 2025, while Wade was the guest co-host of Today with Jenna & Friends, the duo enjoyed an outing at the American Girl store in New York City. Wade said his special event with his little girl was "amazing."
"I had an incredible day yesterday. Once I got done with work, I was able to meet my baby at American Girl," he told co-host Jenna Bush Hager. "I know how much she loves dolls and how much she loves dresses, and just the whole manicures and pedicures that we spent time doing together and to be able to do that here for the show and get interviewed by her, it was amazing."
During their visit to the store, Kaavia stepped into the interviewer role. She asked Wade what his favorite part is about being a girl dad.
"My favorite thing about being a girl dad is the way that you look at me when you see me in the morning," he replied. "I love that you show your emotions to me, and I love that I can look in your eyes and see my eyes, but in a much [more] beautiful way."
She went on to ask her father when he was most proud of her. The co-owner of the Utah Jazz replied that it was at that very moment, as she interviewed him.
"I'm so proud of you right now," Wade said. "You are hosting an interview right now for Jenna & Friends for the Today show. You are 6 years old and you're doing an amazing job, so I'm most proud of you right now in this moment."

While chatting with E! News at the second annual ball for Translatable, a non-profit organization started by the 19-year-old and her dad to create a safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth, Zaya opened up about her first year at college, sharing some of the advice that her dad gave her before heading off to college.
“My dad told me not to mess it up, that he is paying tuition and it is expensive," she shared jokingly about her dad's advice. "And I would hope that I am doing that.”
"I'm just trying to focus on doing my classes, but also having fun and understanding more about myself as I'm growing into my individuality as an adult," she continued. "But really just taking the time to understand the difference between school me and friend me and real me and just really enriching all of my individual experiences. I think that's what they wanted for me, just to be a more encompassed version of myself."
