During their interview, Drew said she heard Harris saw Nicole across the room before they worked together and he was afraid to approach her.
“Yeah, it always happens to me. I always see people that I really admire and I’m like. I should talk to them, but I don’t, I’m scared to,” he recalled. “When I was younger, I went to this event and I was there, it was like one of the first like events I went to in this world and I was a bit nervous, industry thing, it was like some sort of awards thing and there was a small party afterwards and I was stood in the corner with like champagne.”
“I’d probably drunk like several of them to try and like combat my nerves and Denzel Washington walked in and walked straight to me and was like, hey, lighten up man. And I, I feel like since then I’ve just been like, OK, lighten up, lighten up, lighten up. You know, like every time I’m in that scenario, but with, with Nicole, I, knew that we were gonna work together.”
He then added with Nicole, he mustered up courage to go meet her, but he got another celeb friend to help and introduce them.
“I did, I did because I felt like I would have kicked myself if I didn’t considering we were about to start something together, but I got someone else to introduce us,” Harris shared. “I was, I was talking to Margaret Qualley, who I know a little bit. Yeah, so she introduced us, which was a little bit easier because there was like a connect.”
As for working with Nicole on Babygirl, Harris noted it was a bit hard for him to have to do some of the things his character did.
“Well, I think it’s like from, from the moment the like game is set between them with the, I mean you just played the clip like the cookie clip. When he says, yeah, you want one?” he said. “It’s like he’s testing her, he comes into her very like stiff, high powered CEO, very, everyone’s revering her, you know, and he kind of sees that and watches it, and he’s like, I’m not gonna do that. I’m gonna do the opposite. I’m gonna offer a cookie, I’m gonna almost disrespect her a little bit in a way.”
Harris added, “For an intern to do that as well to the to the boss, it’s like, and that was hard to do as well, like for me to have to come in and do that to Nicole Kidman and I was like, well how do I do this, you know, like even there’s a, there’s a line in it where I say like I’m in the car with her and I say, you know, I’m not interested in that, you look like a mother and I said to Halina [Reijn], our director, I was like, I can’t say that. That’s really, that’s like, that’s a little bit rude, isn’t it?”
