Jonathan Ross’ spooky TV series Haunted Homecoming has been axed after ONE series.

The show, which sees the broadcaster, 65, delve into scary ghost stories from East London, hit our screens on Discovery+ in 2024.

‘TV star and horror fan Jonathan Ross revisits the scenes of his youth in London’s East End for a chilling trip down memory lane, exploring its historical dark side, and seeking evidence of paranormal activity in his own childhood haunts,’ the channel’s synopsis reads.

It has now been revealed that after one series, consisting of just two episodes, the paranormal activity programme, has been scrapped.

Speaking with The Sun, Jonathan said: ‘I’m not going to do another ghost hunt show because we couldn’t find any. I said, “I’m going to tell you in advance, I’m a sceptic”.

‘I’m not going to say there aren’t ghosts but I’m not the sort of person who’s going to fake being scared. They said they didn’t want me to be like that.

‘We met one guy who had quite a spooky experience but after I’d spoken to him about half an hour I was like, “Oh, you’ve got unresolved issues”.’

The first episode, named Hitchcock & the Pool of Death, saw the star investigate Epping Forest, and a hotel in the surrounding area.

Meanwhile the second instalment followed, dubbed The Ghost in the Cellar, focused on paranormal activity going on in a school.

Jonathan was joined on screen by paranormal investigator Dr Kate Cherrel and psychic Ian Lawman.

The show was produced by North One.

More recently Jonathan has presented Channel 4 show Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing and was a contestant on BBC One’s The Celebrity Traitors.

Last month the future of Handcuffed was ‘revealed’ after the show stunned viewers.

The reality programme aired in March and saw eight pairs of strangers with totally opposed beliefs and lifestyles handcuffed together for weeks.

Having to be in each other’s company 24/7, their efforts were all in a bid to take home a £100,000 cash prize.

A source told The Sun’s TVBiz column: ‘There isn’t just an appetite for a second series of the ‘civilian’ show, there’s also the desire to make a celebrity version.

‘That’s because there are plenty of stars out there who have very contrasting views with other stars and the prospect of them being stuck with one another is just delicious.

‘Producers know it will make for great telly, though how long they will actually last being handcuffed remains to be seen.’

Meanwhile, the first series was won by conservative housewife Charlie and adult content creator Rob, who were able to outlast the other duos.

Additional unlikely pairings included a plus-size model handcuffed to a gym-lover, and a cleaner attached to a self-made millionaire.

There was also Sir Ben Slade, who sought out some bolt cutters to separate himself from former prison officer George, with their pairing only lasting 12 hours and 47 minutes.

First announced in May last year, the show marked Jonathan’s return to Channel 4 after starting his career with the broadcaster presenting The Last Resort back in 1987.

At the time, the Celebrity Traitors star said: ‘I believe this experiment will go a small way to healing a fractured Britain; after all, to know is to love.

‘I’m rooting for our couples to go the distance and not let our differences overpower us.’
