Isaac "Wavy" Bradley, a Chicago chef whose restaurant was beloved by his community, was one of two men who died in a mass shooting in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood on June 5. He was 44.

Bradley was a chef at Chemistry, a steakhouse in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, CBS Chicago reported. He was also the father of a 16-year-old son, and started several restaurants with his longtime business partner Erik Rico Nance, including Stussy's Diner, LiteHouse Whole Food Grill, Soul Shack and Mikkey's Retro Grill.

"When he was passionate about something or someone, he just, he doesn't stop," his sister, Rhena, told the news station.

Bradley had been in the neighborhood to cut someone's hair when he was shot, according to the outlet, which cited his family.

PEOPLE has reached out to a spokesperson for Chemistry for comment.

“This is literally the nicest human being you will meet,” Nance told NBC 5 Chicago. “He is the definition of hospitality, the definition of love.”

Nance added that Bradley was a "master artist when it came to food."

Nance also started a GoFundMe for Bradley to support his family, describing the late chef as one of Chicago's "most beloved culinary souls."

"Raised on the South Side, his love for cooking was born in his mother's kitchen and carried into everything he created," the description reads. "Over 19 years, he brought that same love to millions."

The fundraiser has raised nearly $2,000 of its $80,000 goal, and was co-created by Bradley's sister Rhena, LaShonda Simmons and EA Yisrael.
