Spencer Pratt hit back at Lisa Rinna on Tuesday following her criticism of his Los Angeles mayoral campaign.

The Hills alum, 42, responded after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 62, said she did not want a ‘reality person’ for the job.

Pratt took to X on Tuesday and shared a clip from a recent Fox interview, where he was asked whether the biggest city in California should be run by a former reality TV star.

‘The reality, pun intended… is that was from 20 years ago,’ Pratt – who was known as the villain on the MTV show – said, before torching current mayor Karen Bass.

‘If we look at what Karen Bass was doing 20 years ago, she was in Cuba learning how to make bombs with the people who would then go to bomb Capitol Hill.’

‘So, if we’re looking at backgrounds, I’m pretty proud of what I was doing at 20 on reality television,’ he quipped.

‘Even though I may not have been the most likable character, it was still TV, versus trying to destroy America and going to Cuba 20 times and praising Fidel Castro,’ Pratt added in another dig at Bass.

‘So, against my opponent, my background is pretty strong,’ Pratt – whose bid has also been blasted by Chelsea Handler – said.

In his caption, Pratt addressed Rinna, writing, ‘Hey Lisa, if you’re against me because I was on a TV show in my 20’s, wait til you learn what Karen Bass was doing in her 20’s…’

In 1973, Bass traveled to Cuba with the Venceremos Brigade, a pro-Cuban Revolution group, to assist with construction.

She previously shared a photo from the trip in 2016.

Bass visited Cuba eight times in the 1970s. She also returned in March 2016 with former President Barack Obama.

Pratt’s response comes after Rinna was asked at the American Music Awards on Monday who should be the next mayor of her home city.

‘That is a good question,’ Rinna replied to Variety reporter Marc Malkin, then added that a ‘reality star’ should not get the job.

‘I am gonna say I don’t know yet. Not a reality star, though. I’m sorry. I love him, but we’ve already done that, we’re not going to do that again,’ she said as she wore a tie featuring a print of President John F Kennedy’s face.

She was referring to President Donald Trump, who hosted the reality TV show The Apprentice before turning to politics.

The former soap opera star then acknowledged that Pratt, who appeared on The Hills in the 2000s, has campaign momentum.

‘He’s got power behind him, it seems,’ she conceded.

Rinna reasoned that voting for a reality TV star was not a great idea.

‘Listen, I’m a reality person,’ she said. ‘You wouldn’t want me as mayor, really. I mean, let’s just face it.’

She went on to say that she ‘loves’ Pratt and thinks ‘he’s amazing’ but does not want him for the job as she prefers someone with more political experience.

‘Let’s have somebody that’s already been mayor, the mayor of San Jose, or whoever,’ she stated.

Pratt entered into the political arena after his home in the Pacific Palisades burned down last year, forcing him to live out of a trailer and various hotels.

When Pratt was criticized for spending a few nights at the pricey Hotel Bel-Air, he snapped back on X, ‘Hey guys, why don’t they wanna talk about why I need a hotel in the first place? Karen Bass let my home burn down. Also, 6,000 of my neighbors. NBD.’

The former star of The Hills has frequently criticized current Los Angeles Mayor Bass and city councilwoman Nithya Raman throughout his campaign.

Pratt has raised over $500,000 for his campaign since January, surpassing Bass’ reported fundraising total during the same period, according to campaign finance records reviewed by People.

Pratt faces his toughest challenge from incumbent Bass and City Councilwoman Nithya Raman.

The 2026 Los Angeles mayoral election will be held on June 2.
