'The Odyssey' leading ladies go elemental for glam Elle magazine covers

The A-list leading ladies of “The Odyssey” are going all out to promote the Christoper Nolan-directed epic, posing for jaw-dropping photo shoots for Elle magazine.

Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron each posed for four separate Elle magazine covers that represented the elements — water (Hathaway), Earth (Zendaya), fire (Nyong’o) and air (Theron).

The ladies were all styled by Law Roach, modeling high fashion for their elaborate shoots shot by photographer Norman Jean Roy.

For Hathaway’s cover, the actress sported a Fendi bodysuit while the image was made to look like rain falling.

More pics from her shoot included her lying in a pool of water in a soaking wet Saint Laurent dress, her posing in a waterfall in a plunging Mugler dress and her splashing around in a Giorgio Armani black bodysuit.

In the accompanying article, Hathaway talked about working with Nolan again 12 years after 2014’s “Interstellar.”

“And because I’ve worked so hard in the last dozen years, both as a person and as an actor, I was excited to show him what I’ve been up to,” she said.

“We think about Penelope as a model of patience,” she said of her role. “But I was interested in the raw edge of her. I was interested in the fury, the emotion, and the passion that she would have had to ride for him for those 20 years.”

Zendaya plays Athena, the goddess of wisdom, and for her magazine cover, she wasn’t afraid to get dirty for the Earth theme. The actress wore a textured Louis Vuitton top while lying in a field, with dirt smudges on her body.

More pics included her posing in a Louis Vuitton coat and lace-up Le Silla boots, as well as lying seductively on the ground in an Acne Studios crop top and jeans.

Zendaya noted that playing Athena made sense for her given she’s been called an old soul since she was a child, which she attributed to spending a lot of time with her parents and grandmother growing up. She’s also been acting since she was a child.

The former Disney Channel star made a rare comment about working with her longtime love, Tom Holland, on “The Odyssey” (he plays Telemachus, the prince of Ithaca), though they didn’t have scenes together. She also reunited with him for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which comes out July 31.

“I could have cried, I was so proud,” she said of watching Holland on set of “The Odyssey.”

“And then ‘Spider-Man’ was a dream; I get to go to work every day with my best friend, the person that I love,” she continued. “We bring our dogs to work; it’s like a family affair. We grew up on those movies! It’s like coming home.”

As for Nyong’o, her striking Elle cover features her posing in a dazzling red sequin Chanel dress as a fire rages behind her. More pics included her running through fire in a red Sportmax dress, and her showing off her toned figure in a black Chanel bra and matching briefs.

Nyong’o addressed some of the racist criticism she’s faced for being cast as Helen of Troy, “the face that launched a thousand ships.”

“I’m very supportive of Chris’s intention with it and with the version of this story that he is telling,” she responded. “Our cast is representative of the world. I’m not spending my time thinking of a defense. The criticism will exist whether I engage with it or not.”

“This is a mythological story,” she also pointed out.

Theron rounds out the four covers, serving face in a Mugler top with her blond curls styled to appear windblown.

The statuesque actress, who plays sea nymph Calypso in “The Odyssey,” nailed the windy theme of her shoot, looking ethereal in the gray-tinged photos.

Theron said she loved playing one of the lesser-known characters in the film.

“I was given a chance to do something that I haven’t had a ton of opportunity to do, because she’s a little bit of everything. That’s what’s so beautiful about her,” she said. “And a lot of people on their own cast me in this movie, and they cast me very differently.”

“It was a real opportunity that Chris gave me to do something that didn’t feel like typecasting,” she continued.

Theron later made a rare comment about her daughters — Jackson, 14, and August, 11.

“They both have really big, good hearts. It’s not necessarily through my work, but I can tell that they’re thinking outside of their own bubble, and that to me feels good as a mom,” she said.

Her advice to them, she revealed, is just to be themselves.

“It’s so much harder for girls these days, I think, than when I was a teenager,” she noted. “When they get lost in it, I remind them they’re such powerhouses. They just need to remember that. Stay there. That’s probably the daily thing I remind them of—and to unload the dishwasher.”

Nolan told Empire in November that he “shot over two million feet of film” for “The Odyssey,” which took 91 days to shoot. The star-studded cast also includes Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal and more.

The film is set to hit theaters July 17.
