NEED TO KNOW
- Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Peters, was raised in Hoboken, N.J.
- His dad is a businessman and his mom is a former bodybuilder
- The controversial “looksmaxxing” influencer was hospitalized on April 14, following a suspected overdose
Clavicular was raised in New Jersey by his dad Kenneth and mom Lauren, per The Atlantic.
The Miami-based influencer — whose real name is Braden Peters — also grew up with a sister, who has appeared on his livestream on several occasions. (PEOPLE could not independently confirm her name.)
The streamer has sparked controversy online due to his promotion of "looksmaxxing," a subculture that encourages young people to improve their physical appearance to attract women and power. He claimed to use meth to keep his weight down, said he began injecting himself with testosterone at age 14 and took other extreme measures to change his appearance, per CNN.
In February 2026, Peters shared what he said was his full interview with The New York Times on his YouTube channel. In the clip, he told the interviewer that his parents were initially "pissed" about what he was sharing on livestreams, but shared that it's now "undeniable" because of "how successful it is."
The influencer was previously arrested twice and has also been involved in violent interactions on his livestreams. His first arrest was for allegedly possessing a forged instrument, using a fake ID and suspicion of dangerous drug possession, per KTAR News, though state prosecutors dropped the case "due to no reasonable likelihood of conviction." One month later, Peters was arrested on charges of battery. (A rep for Peters did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.)
On April 14, PEOPLE confirmed that he was taken to the emergency room following a suspected overdose after his livestream abruptly cut off. He shared an update on X shortly after, writing that he was now home after his "brutal" hospital stint.
"All of the substances are just a cope trying to feel neurotypical while being in public, but obviously that isn't a real solution," Peters captioned a selfie. "The worst part of tonight was my face descending from the life support mask." (A rep for Clavicular declined to comment on his X update and current status when asked by PEOPLE.)

Peters grew up in Hoboken, N.J., per GQ. Reflecting on his childhood during a February 2026 conversation with the outlet, he said it was "probably the same as anyone else."
"There's not a lot of deviation between five-year-olds, you know?" he said.
Peters briefly lived in Connecticut as he attended Sacred Heart University in the fall of 2024, though he claimed he was expelled after campus police officers discovered steroids in his dorm, per The New York Times. (However, the university reportedly did not publicly comment on the case due to FERPA, which protects student privacy.)
When he left school, he began working in a restaurant before becoming an influencer and starting his livestream. Now, he is based in Miami.

According to GQ, his mother is also a former bodybuilder and their family had a home gym.

Peters claimed that when he began injecting himself with mail-order testosterone at 14 years old, his parents discovered his supply and "trashed it," according to The Atlantic.
Then, he set up his own post-office box and began ordering new chemicals for his transformation, per the outlet.
The influencer told The New York Times that his parents eventually gave up on throwing out his stash, realizing "that there was kind of nothing that they could do to stop my ascension." ("Ascend" is Looksmaxxer terminology for becoming more handsome, per the outlet.)
The influencer also told GQ that they've since adjusted to his lifestyle, though there are still times they get "pissed" at him.
"They're happy for the most part and they get it, but they still get pissed, like, when I get sent to jail or if there's headlines… I was calling my dad at 3:00 a.m. or whatever from jail. No parent's gonna be happy to hear that," he told the outlet.
He has a sister
Peters grew up alongside a younger sister, per GQ.
According to the outlet, they often went skiing. Every summer, the family visited Cape Cod, Mass., and spent time at the beach.
His sister has previously appeared on his livestream on several occasions.
