New York Yankees pitcher Ryan Weathers is now a dad.

Weathers, 26, and his wife Thayer welcomed their first baby, a son named Paul David Weathers, the couple announced in an Instagram post on Wednesday, April 22.

"Just in absolute awe of the Lord and how he provides…. @etw_thayer you are an absolute rockstar we love our little man Paul David Weathers💙," the pitcher captioned the post. In the photo, Thayer rests on her husband's shoulder as he holds their little one.

In another post on X, Weathers shared that his son was born early. "Little man decided to come early… Thank you Lord for a healthy baby and a healthy wife," he wrote, alongside a photo of a baseball stamped with Paul's tiny footprint.

Thayer, a former player on the University of Florida women's volleyball team, announced her pregnancy in December 2025 via Instagram. "Our favorite gift wasn't under the tree this year 🕊️🤍," she captioned the post, which featured photos of her and Ryan holding scans of her ultrasound against a wintry backdrop.

"In a season centered around the miraculous birth of our Savior and His promise fulfilled, what a joy and honor it has been to be growing and carrying new life," Thayer added at the time. "Thank you Jesus for the highest honor bestowed upon us, parents to our sweet baby."

Weathers' father, David Weathers, also played baseball. David, 56, pitched for 12 different teams between 1991 and 2009, and was a member of the 1996 World Series-winning Yankees team.

Weathers joined the Bronx Bombers in January, after previously pitching for the San Diego Padres and the Miami Marlins. The Yankees put Weathers on the paternity list on Wednesday, although manager Aaron Boone said he still expects Weathers to make his next scheduled start on Saturday, April 25 against the Houston Astros, reports MLB.com.
