Jeff Goldblum is sharing a look inside his newly renovated guesthouse at his L.A. home!

The actor, 73, opened the doors to his 1930s Spanish-style abode in West Hollywood that he shares with wife Emilie during a recent tour with Architectural Digest. While Jeff has had the property for over four decades, the couple decided the guesthouse was in need of a major renovation.

Jeff and Emilie — who wed in 2014 and share sons Charlie, 10, and River, 9 — called on architect Barbara Bestor to help transform the structure into a place that would fit their family’s needs, including a performance space, a play area for their children, a home office, rooms for guests to sleep and a fully equipped gym, as Emilie is a professional dancer and aerialist.

“The catalyst for the whole project was an upgrade to the laundry room,” Jeff told the outlet of the early stages of the renovation. “Then we started to think bigger.”

Bestor reimagined the existing structure of the space to align more with the style of the main house, as well as raised the ceilings and “upgraded the building systems,” per AD. She also noted that because the couple have “playful personalities,” the interior needed to be “fun and relaxed” to match their energy.

“Jeff has always had eccentric taste,” Emilie added of her husband. “We love the laid-back California 1970s energy — lots of color, flower prints, things that uplift. Life can be tough, so we wanted things that make you happy.”

Inside the home, many of the rooms were designed with indoor-outdoor living in mind, including the mostly pink gym equipped with large sliding glass doors. The feature invites fresh air into the space and also offers stunning views of downtown L.A.

While Emilie uses the space to film workouts and dance content, Jeff is also pleased with the vibrant colors adorning their gym.

“I don’t associate colors with gender,” he told AD. “I like them all. I’m easy to please.”

In the guest room, the Murphy bed topped with colorful sheets and playful bedding folds into the wall to allow guests more space. There’s also an en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower as well as an outdoor shower on the other side.

Emilie says the addition is especially useful when the family hosts pool parties, so their guests can rinse off after a relaxing day at the pool. This prompts Jeff to take a moment to express his gratitude for the property.

“We’re so lucky. This is all too luxurious, but I’ll never not appreciate it,” he explains in the video tour

The property also includes a playful multipurpose main space on the ground floor that the couple tries to keep uncluttered. It serves as an area where the family can hang out after a pool day, host a cocktail hour before dinners, or even put on impromptu performances when they feel like it.

“We’re going to keep discovering how this place serves us,” Jeff told AD while reflecting on the entire renovation. “These rooms are so fertile and ripe for experiments and adventures.”
